For example, God told Noah to build the ark 300 cubits long, the NIV and others translate it 450 feet long (Genesis 6:15). Jesus came walking to the disciples in the fourth watch of the night, the Message says it happened "at about four o'clock in the morning" (Matthew 14:25). Jesus said the widow threw two mites into the offering, the Message said she threw in "two small coins--a measly two cents" (Mark 12:42).

If you are buying a word-for-word version like NASB or NKJV, try adding a paraphrased version like MSG. If you are buying a paraphrased version, try adding a dynamic-equivalent like NIV or NIrV.
