Verses with Answers
This is a series of study guides for those who want to get right into the Bible and want the answers to each passage so they know if they are on track.

It is easier to talk to somebody if you know what they are like. In the three volumes of What Kind of Person is Jesus? you get to know what God is like, by watching Jesus (i.e. God in the flesh) in action. Each book contains 8 passages from the life of Jesus with all 4-Steps of Bible study filled in. This lets you study the passages on your own with the confidence that you can check the answers in case you get stuck. Get to know God as you would get to know a friend by watching Him in action.

Excerpts
Volume 1, Luke 8:22-25, Panel 2 Lessons: - Problems bigger than our ability to manage will come up as we follow Christ. The solution is our faith in Christ’s ability to handle them. - Jesus puts us before His own needs. He was tired, but He got up. He did not rebuke the disciples for interrupting His sleep. He taught them what would have been helpful for them in a crisis—faith. - Jesus responds to our fears. He immediately calmed the storm. He did not play with their emotions.

Volume 1, Mark 12:41-44, Commentary: We should take heart that Jesus takes time to notice the “insignificant” in the world. He uses a different measuring stick to measure significance. You don’t need fame and fortune to be important to Jesus. He is impressed by our faith. He supernaturally knew the widow’s financial situation. He saw that her security was not pinned on her money.

Volume 1, Mark 14:32-42, Panel 1 Facts: - Jesus took the disciples to Gethsemane. - Jesus told His disciples, "Sit here while I pray." - Jesus took Peter, James, and John with Him. - Jesus became very troubled and distressed. - He told His disciples, "My soul is deeply grieved to the point of death; remain here and watch."

Volume 1, Matthew 4:1-11, Commentary: - Jesus is determined. He does not let personal suffering deter Him from doing God’s will. - Jesus is genuine. He shared His grief and distress with His disciples. - Jesus is humble and willing to submit to God’s authority. - Jesus is gentle. He doesn’t belittle us when we are wrong.

Volume 1, Matthew 14:14-21, Commentary: But, sometimes, Jesus helps us by asking us to do what seems impossible. He told the disciples the crowd didn’t need to go away to eat. "You give them something to eat," He said. Well, color the disciples dumbfounded. Earth to Jesus, "We only have five loaves and two fishes." "Bring them here to Me," was His reply.

Volume 2, Mark 10:13-16, Panel 3 Challenges: - Am I arguing with people, trying to protect God or do I respect Him enough to know He is responsible for Himself? - Am I making it easier or harder for people to come to Jesus? - Am I misreading Jesus? Do I think He is too busy or too important to deal with me or my problems?

Volume 2, Matthew 4:1-11, Commentary: Jesus got through His temptations because He was more than His needs and He trusted God. We can get though our temptations by not letting our needs define us. Temptations lose power when we realize God has already promised us everything Satan offers to "give us." We won't be grasping for so much on earth when we realize we will have it all in heaven.

Volume 2, John 18:1-11, Panel 2 Lessons: There is power coming out of Jesus when He declares His deity "I Am." The people fell backward to the ground. People see evidence of God's power in nature and His Word today, and choose to ignore it. They get back up determined to accuse or ignore Him.

Volume 2, John 21:4-14, Commentary: The Son of God was humble enough to cook breakfast for a band of men who had failed Him. But, He was not passive. He didn't fix their fish-less problem until they admitted they needed help and until they did what He told them to do.

Volume 3, Luke 8:43-48, Panel 4 Response: Thank You Lord that You can heal so easily what is impossible for man. Thank You that Your power flows toward our faith. Please help me to increase my faith in You.

Volume 3, Luke 19:1-10, Commentary: God notices when we make the extra effort to find Him. In that culture, men of Zaccheus's rank did not run. They did not climb trees. That was undignified. But Jesus loves a sinner who embraces and appreciates the opportunity to be with Him. This is the only time in scripture where Jesus invites Himself to be a guest in a home, and Zaccheus's heart was ready.

Volume 3, Luke 19:28-35, Commentary: Jesus could have commandeered a four horse chariot. That would have been way more impressive than a colt. But Jesus wanted the colt, and not just any colt. It had to be a colt that had never been ridden. Most animals have to be broken in before they are rideable. But since Jesus is Master over His creation, the colt was subject to Him and cooperated.

Volume 3, John 20:10-17, Panel 2 Response: - For those who look for Jesus, and linger when they can't find Him, He will come to them. - God cares about our feelings and asks us to express them to Him as a way to stir our faith. - Jesus' appearance is not always recognizable, but we will recognize His voice. His children recognize the power, love and majesty of His voice.
Testimonials
"The Verses with Answers series is another terrific addition to the powerful program for Bible study developed by Drs. Noel and Denise Enete that began with the Wave Study Bible and includes their great book, How to Read the Bible So God Speaks to You. If you’ve always wanted to read and understand the Bible, if you want to unlock all that God has included in His Word, you’ll want to get a hold of these easy-to-use, yet deeply insightful tools. Best of all, you don’t have to be a skilled or knowledgeable Bible teacher to lead your small group through these materials. The Verses with Answers guides are designed so that everyone in your group or family can facilitate the study and discussion.

I have gone through this process with my own small group and watched as even very new Christians in the group grew wide-eyed at what God was revealing through using the 4-Step Bible study process Noel and Denise developed. These gifted people are not only talented professionals in their own right, but also caring teachers who love helping people approach the throne and character of God through the study of Scripture.

I wholeheartedly recommend these materials, no matter where you are on your walk with Christ. If you don’t know the Lord you’ll come to appreciate His amazing qualities and see what happens when God comes to live among us. If you have been walking with Him for decades you’ll gain a new and richer appreciation for who He is and how much He loves you. These are essential in every believer’s library."
